□ To be a packing pro you’re going to need the right materials. Having plenty of boxes, bubble wrap,
packing paper and packing peanuts for cushioning, is essential. Start collecting boxes early and
store them flattened to conserve space. Use only high quality packing tape - duct tape does not a
moving tape make.

□ Use the right size box for whatever you’re moving or shipping. Oversize items will require special
order cartons. Wrap everything securely, whether you're packing for short term or long term storage.

□ Throw a packing party. Having an extra helper or two can come in pretty handy.

□ First, pack items you won't need right away, like articles stored in the basement, garage or attic.
Wait and pack things, like tools, you'll use right up to moving day last.

□ Anything potentially flammable or explosive should

machinery.

□ Don't pack valuables, take them with you.

□ Most moving experts strongly recommended that you
avoid moving with plants or fish, as they will not respond
well to sudden environmental changes.

□ Electronics are best stowed in their original packaging, if you have them. Backup your hard drive.
Draw a simple diagram or color-code wires before disconnecting to make reconnecting much simpler.

□ When it comes to moving major appliances, pianos, or pool tables, it's best to consult wth an
authorized dealer or other professional service specialist.

□ Save time. Have beds disassembled and ready to go. Properly drain waterbeds beforehand.

□ Start consuming perishable food items as much as possible before the day of the move to eliminate extra packing. Empty freezers and refrigerators before moving.
